Laminating adhesive

Drying laminating adhesive are simply having some solvent. With time solvent and the two surfaces of laminating films sticks together. This is used in household applications. The bonding strength is not so much but this is safer and no toxic in nature.

Contact adhesive is applied to two surfaces and kept for some duration like 24 hours. Afterwards we join the two surfaces with adhesives and they make good bonding with each other without applying any pressure. Natural rubber and polychloroprene (neoprene) are some contact adhesives.

Hot melt laminating adhesive is applied in hot condition and it bonds when it cools. Hot melt adhesives are thermoplastics.

Reactive adhesive works by chemical bonding with the surface material. They are applied in thin films. Reactive adhesives are less effective when there is a secondary goal of filling gaps between the surfaces. These include two-part epoxy, peroxide, silane, metallic cross-links, or isocyanate.

UV and light curing adhesives gets cured when applied UV light. Adhesion is dependent on several factors like adhesive type, intensity of light, duration etc.

Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) form a bond by the application of light pressure to marry the adhesive with the adherent. They are designed with a balance between flow and resistance to flow. The bond forms because the adhesive is soft enough to flow, or wet, the adherent.
